Before we met with the doctor, Steve had has 3 month dermatology check up. Everything looked good overall, but there was one spot that looked worrisome to the derms. They did not like the "center clearing". So, off it came via an 8mm punch. The mole is on his right rib cage area. Here are some pics and video.

Deletethank you for your blog, I just recently have been diagnosed with stage IV Metastic Melanoma and was told my prognosis was "months". I am fighting it and intend to win just like your husband, my mantra is "My WILL to LIVE is STRONGER than the cancer within me." Thanks for sharing your journey of courage, hope, challenges and SUCCESS! Honolulu, HI
ReplyDeleteBest of luck to you, Anonymous. My friend was diagnosed with stage IV this week.
ReplyDeleteI lost my husband to stage 4 metastatic melanoma on 4-28-07. We had just got married two months prior and I was pregnant with our third child. It all happened so fast all these years later and it still doesn’t seem real. It took us several months to finally get a diagnosis. An X-ray revealed a mass on his heart that they originally thought was a blood clot. A biopsy and 10 days later we get the terrible news it’s melanoma. I couldn’t believe it and remember thinking to myself how did skin cancer end up on his heart because I had no idea how deadly it was. I only had 2 tremendously short weeks with my love from diagnosis. That’s it 14 days and my entire world was shattered. My 3 children have grown up without their daddy. My little girl doesn’t know what her daddy’s hugs felt like and breaks down when she sees a father loving on his daughter. My 2 sons never got the chance to throw a football with their daddy or Learn about cars or see how much their mommy and daddy loved each other. Hug your husband and make sure he knows how much you love him. I’m so grateful that treatment has advanced to where people at least have a fighting chance with this terrible cancer. Your beyond blessed just to have the time to fight and hopefully defeat melanoma. I’ll pray for your family and for your health as well.
ReplyDeleteI am so very sorry to hear about your husband. That is so tragic for everyone involved. We are so lucky for the advances in melanoma treatment in the last 10 years. Hugs to you and your family. <3
